Job Description :
The Senior Functional Lead – AI will play a critical role in transforming Finance operations through the adoption of Generative AI and Agentic AI within Cognizant’s Global Financial Systems landscape. This role is responsible for leading the functional design, governance, and delivery of AI-enabled automation solutions across SAP and AWS environments, with a strong focus on Record-to-Report and core transactional finance processes. Acting as a trusted partner to Finance leadership and a key liaison to technical teams, the Senior Functional Lead will ensure AI solutions are accurate, compliant, scalable, and fully aligned with business objectives.
In this role, you will :
- Lead the end-to-end functional design, configuration, and delivery of Generative AI and Agentic AI–driven automation solutions across Global Financial Systems.
- Serve as the primary functional bridge between Finance business stakeholders and technical engineering teams, ensuring AI solutions correctly interpret and execute complex SAP accounting rules.
- Drive AI-enabled transformation across Record-to-Report processes, including Accruals, Reconciliations, and Month-End Close, as well as related transactional workflows such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
- Define and document functional requirements and business logic for AI agents operating within SAP and AWS environments.
Required skills :
- 7+ years of experience in Financial Systems, Finance Transformation, or a related functional role.
- Deep functional expertise in SAP Financials (FICO) with a proven track record of optimizing SAP-based finance workflows.
- Strong understanding of core finance processes, including Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in automation, RPA, or Generative AI implementations in a corporate environment.
- Ability to operate in an agile, fast-paced environment, moving quickly from concept to prototype as requirements evolve.
Preferred skills :
- Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and/or ABAP.
- Prior experience integrating external AI/ML tools with SAP S/4HANA.
- Industry experience in automotive, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Agile methodologies.
- Experience designing or supporting SOX-compliant financial automation solutions.
Working Arrangements :
- This role requires the candidate to work onsite from Normal, IL
